Meet the founder — Carolyn Herbert
Carolyn Herbert started Herbert’s Wine Jelly in 2016 with a simple vision: to create delicious, handcrafted wine jellies while building a business that makes a real difference. What began as a small kitchen project quickly grew into a purpose-driven brand rooted in quality, flavor, and care for the community.
With a long background in supporting children and young adults, Carolyn carried her passion for guidance into her business. She began hiring and training adults facing employment barriers, offering meaningful work, skills development, and a supportive environment.

From a kitchen recipe to a mission-driven business
Herbert’s Wine Jelly began in a home kitchen when Carolyn made a special jelly for her 92-year-old mother. With a chef’s help, the recipe was perfected and shared at local craft fairs. What started as a family project quickly became a small business focused on exceptional flavor and quality.
As the business grew, so did its purpose: to create employment opportunities for people facing barriers to work, support mental health awareness, and give back to the community. Today Herbert’s sells wholesale, at select Virginia vineyards and specialty stores, on Amazon, and directly from this website
